Fishburn Sheridan (FSA) is a recognized leader in building envelope consulting engineering, specializing in long-lasting performance solutions, quality assurance and industry compliance in the investigation, design, and rehabilitation of roofing, cladding, and waterproofing systems. We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Project Manager with proven knowledge in building envelope systems to join our collaborative and fast-paced team, to lead projects from conception through completion. This role combines strategic project leadership, technical field work, and client collaboration. You’ll be responsible for both hands-on investigations and high-level project oversight, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction at every stage.

Position Summary
As Project Manager, we expect you to take on the responsibility for overall project delivery of all your projects, as well as participating as team member or project manager for projects conducted by other offices.
This hands-on role requires the ability to work independently in the investigation, inspection, and field testing of roofing systems and exterior envelopes to generate condition assessments, evaluation reports, and technical recommendations.
The position has a three (3) month probationary period, and you will be able to rely on FSA’s entire staff complement for support. FSA works with a project team structure and you will be a designated Project Manager for selected FSA projects, working with an assembled project team, depending on the skills required.
Typical work type/time distribution:
Project management and supervision of staff: 15-25%
Investigation, testing, analysis, design preparations, specification writing, report preparation, etc.: 30-45%
Project support (field review, site measurements, design assistance, surveys): 10-20%
Administrative work: 10-20%
Marketing and business development: 10-20%
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Administration & Financials
Manage project budgets, schedules, invoicing, and overall financial performance
Ensure compliance with corporate and industry requirements in documentation and reporting. Prepare, review, and administer tender documents, contract change orders, and payment certifications, CCDC and other contract forms.
Approve project charges and oversee subconsultant, client and contractor engagement
Project Management & Implementation
Lead the full life cycle of building envelope projects, including scopes, proposals, and deliverables
Develop and track project milestones, resolving issues proactively to maintain quality and timelines
Coordinate workflow between internal teams, contractors, and consultants
Support business development by preparing proposals and fostering strong client relationships
Inspection, Investigation & Field Work
Conduct site inspections, roof cut tests, moisture surveys, and diagnostic testing
Collect, analyze, and document field data to assess roofing and building envelope systems
Prepare comprehensive condition assessment reports with recommendations and repair budgets
Verify compliance and system performance through field quality control reviews and testing protocols
Technical & Design Responsibilities
Prepare and review specifications, scopes of work, and technical drawings
Develop practical, code-compliant design solutions for repair, retrofit, and restoration projects
Oversee drafting, detail design, and assembly design for accuracy and constructability
Ensure all technical documentation meets client expectations and industry standards
Communication & Client Coordination
Act as primary contact for clients, consultants, and contractors, ensuring responsive and professional communication
Lead project meetings, prepare minutes, and maintain action logs
Deliver clear and accurate reports, proposals, and technical recommendations
Mentor junior staff and collaborate with other FSA project managers to share expertise
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Degree or Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
Equivalent trade or technical experience with deep knowledge of roofing/building envelope systems considered
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ field experience in roofing, waterproofing, or façade/building envelope systems
Strong knowledge of building science, construction, and restoration methods (roofing, masonry, glazing, etc.)
Proven expertise in field testing, diagnostics, and condition assessment
Familiarity with tendering processes, contract administration, and construction oversight
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
Strong report writing and technical documentation skills
Knowledge of various reporting formats, Ontario Building Code, Acts, and industry standards
Assets:
RRO, RRC, or other building envelope-related certification
Experience managing public sector or institutional projects
